Architect Eddy François (b. 1961, Zottegem)
"Think globally, act locally"
.. is the slogan that architect Eddy François wants to hold high.
Born in the Flemish Ardennes, he has drawn inspiration from world architecture, having worked with architects including Professor Andrea Branzi of Italy, and Toyo Ito of Japan. He also shows a great deal of affinity with traditional, rural architecture.
That brought him to the renovating concept for Brouwershoek with respect for the past:
“…the restoration of the demolished wing will bring the former image to mind, but also retell the story, with new details and a new vitality, in a contemporary way…”
"Only those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it"
